High pressure, high temperature, as well as toxic or high-purity media are being used increasingly in many applications. In many cases, accessing storage tanks is undesirable or impossible, requiring the level of the media to be securely and continuously recorded.
For this purpose, WEKA AG uses the magnetic transmission principle, where magnets are integrated in a float that floats on the surface or a separating layer, and their position can be displayed electrically or visually. The magnets are so powerful and stable that they can hold several millimetres to centimetres of material.
WEKA offer two main types of level indicatiors. Magnetic visual level indicators (VLIs) are appropriate wherever a device can be installed on the outside of the tank or on the tank itself. The level is displayed directly, visually, and intuitively with this level display. Tank level instruments (TLIs) can be used in all other tanks where no outside installation is possible because they record the level in the same way but transmit an electric signal that can then be brought onto a display instrument or led to a control system.
Magnetic visual level indicators are devices that combine up to three functions in one: level display, switch, and transmitter. The display, which is readable over long distances, consumes no energy and operates as a result of the physical law of fluids in communicating vessels. WEKA magnetic visual level indicators stand out for their small size and wide range of applications.
Material Specifications
Instead of being installed on the tank’s side, top of tank magnetic visual level indicators are installed on top of the tank. The magnet is not directly in the float, but rather in a magnetic carrier located above the top of the tank and connected to the float by a connecting pipe. As with the bypass visual level indicators, the float system moves in a guide pipe and the fill level is displayed above the tank. As a result, all of the advantages of magnetic visual level indicators are available.
Material Specifications
WEKA’s continuous level sensors are an ideal complement to the WEKA bypass system when an external installation is not possible. They are fully electronic and, with the exception of the float, have no moving parts. They provide reliable level values for remote indication.
The XM types operate on the voltage divider principle, delivering output voltages between zero and the supply voltage along the float status lines. Most types are also available in an XT version, in which an integrated converter converts the voltage signal to a 4…20mA current sink signal.
